If you are travelling to Rovaniemi on a budget and have only 24 hours to spare, this is the right place!
In less than 24 hours with only €50, I've visited the Santa Claus village, where I skii, slide on snowy slide hill, meet and greet domestic animal, and of course, meet Santa Claus himself!
My accommodation was just steps away from the bus stop which had Bus Service No 8 ( €3.90 one way), a bus that goes directly to Santa Claus Village. Do note that the last bus from Santa Claus Village back to the city is 1910. Entrance to the Village is free of charge and i didn't expect myself to spend one full day there.
I plan to spend half a day in Santa Claus Village and the another half at the Rauna Zoo. However, I eventually spend one full day in the Santa Claus Village.
I've found the direction back to Singapore, it's about 9336km from Santa Claus!
We went to explore the central of Santa Claus village and even get to meet Santa Claus himself. ho ho ho. Right at the Santa Claus office, they have a mailbox where you can choose to send your mail in the future or immediately. No prizes for guessing which one I picked. xD
Crossing the Arctic Circle, this line was marked and I managed to teleport myself in and out of Arctic Circle at the same time. The Arctic Circle is a circle of latitude that runs north of the Equator.
You can also get a certificate and your passport stamp at a additional cost, and I fell for that haha. I bought both the certificate and had the stamp on my passport.
There's a saying that at the end of the rainbow, a pot of gold will be found. I say, at the end of this bridge, a plate of salmon will be found. And here we are!
It's a very cosy resturant and our meal are grilled right in front of us at the central of the resturant. They only serve salmon, so that makes dish selection easier. The salmon cost €19 and comes with salad and potato.
The salmon was so well cooked and disintegrate in my mouth once I put it in. After lunch, I went to explore the outskirt of the Santa Claus Village.
The outskirt of the village was quiet, unlike the central of the village. It was also not as commercialized as compared the central. That was a plus factor for me.
Was trying to see how far i can climb on the soft snow before my legs gave way.
The much sought after Igloo house in Finland with glass rooftop where the guests will be able to view Auroras right above them at night. Sleeping under the Aurora... is an expensive experience, haha.
No Husky sleigh ride but how about dog sleigh ride? The owner was sharing with me videos of the dogs running and roaming happily back at their home. :)
I came across Elf's Farm Yard Petting Zoo where for €5, I can experience activities such as skiing, slide down from snowy slide hill, meet and interact with the domestic animals they have. I even get to make my own coin.
With that, it was time to return to the accomodation. Santa Claus Village was indeed magical.

Had dinner in downtown and this restaurant provides salad buffet with any main dish ordered. I was impressed with their food and I do enjoy their salad.
